In addition, one of the most important consumers is the beekeeping industry itself, because beeswax is necessarily needed within the production cycles of honey. There, beeswax is regularly used for the production of so-called midwalls.

Natürliches, ungebleichtes Bienenwachs, das verschiedenste herkunftsbedingte Gelbtöne besitzt, zeigt darüber hinaus ein charakteristisches Aromenmuster, das Rückschlüsse auf die Biene selbst zuläßt. Diese Komponenten machen sogar mehrere Prozent der Gesamtmasse aus und weisen auf die Herkunft und Bienenrasse hin. Und davon gibt es weltweit betrachtet sogar weit mehr als 20.000 Arten. Allerdings nutzt der Mensch lediglich neun verschiedene Bienenarten als Honig- bzw. Bienenwachsproduzenten.
